The Journey from Obscurity to Prominence: The Life of the Late Prophet T.B. Joshua.

Prophet TB Joshua passed away on June 5, 2021, after one of his evening services in Lagos, Nigeria, just a week before his 58th birthday.

On Saturday, June 5th, 2021, Prophet TB Joshua addressed the Emmanuel TV Partners Meeting, stating, “There is a time for everything - a time to come here for prayer and a time to return home after the service.”

God has called His servant, Prophet TB Joshua, home, under divine will. His final moments on earth were dedicated to serving God, which was his life’s purpose and mission.

As Prophet TB Joshua often said, “The most valuable way to spend life is on something that will outlast it.”

Prophet TB Joshua leaves behind a legacy of service and sacrifice to God’s Kingdom that will continue to live on for future generations.

Prophet TB Joshua’s final words were, “Watch and pray.” We only have one life to live for Christ, and that life is precious.

T.B. Joshua serves as the General Overseer of The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN), with Jesus Christ being the founder. He is among those who have humbly yielded to God’s will (Isaiah 6:8).

Born on June 12th, 1963 in Ondo State, Nigeria, T.B. Joshua’s life is a testament to how God can lift a young man from a home stricken by poverty to lead an international ministry that draws thousands globally to witness the power of God in the present day.

His journey includes leaving secondary school in his first year to work on a poultry farm, teaching young children while attending evening classes, and washing people’s feet on the muddy streets of Lagos. He embarked on a 40-day fast before receiving a divine call and starting a ministry with just eight members. T.B. Joshua’s life is a story of remarkable grace and steadfast determination.

He was a mentor to world leaders and a friend to widows and the underprivileged. He was a role model to his generation, yet remains a humble and hardworking individual, laboring ceaselessly for the growth of God’s kingdom. His story serves as a beacon of hope for those who are weak.

It is believed that he was born after a 15-month gestation period and survived a near-death experience as a baby. He grew up to declare himself a spiritual messenger of the Almighty. Responding to a divine call, he established a ministry with just eight members, where he served as the General Overseer. He was the founder and leader of ‘The Synagogue, Church of All Nations (SCOAN)’, an organization that disseminates his religious teachings globally. T.B. Joshua initiated the ministry on a modest scale, and it gradually expanded beyond Nigeria. The organization also operates a Christian television station named Emmanuel TV, which has amassed a substantial following over time. He was a prominent humanitarian, offering assistance to minorities and the disadvantaged. T.B. Joshua released numerous videos purporting to show the healing of incurable diseases and disabilities, including HIV/AIDS. He was regarded as one of those who have surrendered to God’s will and accepted every act of the Almighty with love and reverence.

CHILDHOOD AND EARLY LIFE.

T.B. Joshua was born on June 12, 1963, in the quaint village of Arigidi in Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria. His birth was surrounded by unusual circumstances as he was born 15 months after his mother’s conception.

When T.B. Joshua was just three days old, a large boulder fell through the roof of his house, narrowly missing him. Following this incident, his mother named him ‘Temitope’, which translates to ‘What You (God) have done for me is worthy of thanks’.

Between 1971 and 1977, T.B. Joshua attended St. Stephen’s Anglican Primary School in Arigidi, Akoko, Nigeria. However, due to financial constraints, he was unable to complete his secondary education. In school, Joshua was fondly referred to as a “small pastor” due to his affinity for the Bible.

T.B. Joshua earned a reputation for spiritual strength after he confronted a madman on the school grounds and disarmed him. He served as the leader of the ‘Scripture Union’ during his school years.

Subsequently, T.B. Joshua took up the humble task of washing people’s feet on the muddy streets of Lagos before transitioning to work at a poultry farm where he had the unenviable job of handling chicken waste. Concurrently, he conducted Bible studies for children and attended evening school.

He aspired to join the military, but his ambition was thwarted by an unfortunate event. The train he was traveling on to attend an interview at the Nigerian Defence Academy in Kaduna broke down, leaving him stranded for six days.

CAREER.

In 1987, he embarked on a spiritual journey to a ‘prayer mountain’ where he sought divine guidance. During this time, he fasted and prayed for 40 days and 40 nights. He reported having a heavenly vision in which he received divine anointing and a covenant from God to commence his ministry. Following this, he established his ministry organization, ‘The Synagogue, Church of All Nations (SCOAN)’.

The organization has released numerous videos purporting to document the healing of incurable diseases and disabilities, such as HIV/AIDS. These videos have sparked controversy and have garnered hundreds of thousands of views.

Many individuals have claimed to experience healing through ‘Anointing Water’, which he prayed over and distributed to those unable to physically attend his church in Lagos. His organization has faced controversy over the deliverance of individuals allegedly possessed by evil spirits during its services.

He professed to be a prophet and is said to have predicted events such as Michael Jackson’s death, the Boston Marathon attack in America, and the outcomes of two African Cup of Nations (AFCON) final matches. T.B. Joshua also reportedly predicted the crash of Malaysian Airlines MH370 several months before the incident occurred.
