Dr. Angel Mbome, born in Batie in the western region of Cameroon, faced numerous traumatic experiences from her childhood into adulthood.
Angel Mbome was born and raised in Batie, a locality in the West Region of Cameroon. During her early years, she experienced unexplained phenomena, such as waking up in different places from where she had slept, sometimes even on the floor. These mysterious occurrences led some of her siblings and villagers to label her as an "Ogbanje" (a child believed to be from the underworld), due to her unique perceptions. Angel even suffered a paralysis that defied medical explanation, and according to her mother, it was only through prayer that Angel recovered.
Eventually, Angel moved away from her biological mother and relocated to Buea, within the Southwest Region, to live with her second mother. The strange happenings seemed to stop for a while, but new trials emerged. Angel was sexually assaulted at the age of eight, and despite her mother's protective efforts, even those entrusted with Angel's care at school violated that trust.
Her home, neighborhood, school, and even church became hazardous environments, with individuals constantly attempting to exploit her. Angel suffered multiple sexual assaults in her life. A particularly traumatic incident occurred when she fell onto an iron bucket from a corridor, causing severe injury to her private parts. She lost a significant amount of blood and had to be hospitalized multiple times due to ongoing complications. During her third hospital stay, she was there for a prolonged period.
During this period, her mother fell ill, and Angel was placed in the adult ward at the general hospital, where adults could supervise her when her family was not present. This ward was near the morgue, and every day, Angel watched as bodies were taken in and out. Deep down, even at the tender age of eight, she felt her end was near.
However, it was during this time that Angel had her first encounter with God. He held her hand, spoke to her, and on another occasion, gave her a note that read "I love you; I will never leave you". These encounters fortified Angel.
Leaving the hospital was not easy for Angel. She felt isolated, even in a house full of kind-hearted people. Some children ridiculed Angel when they saw her sitting naked in a basin for treatment following the accident. Others mocked her because she was advised not to wear underwear or play for a while to avoid provoking more bleeding.
As a teenager, Angel struggled with self-esteem. She found it hard to fit in and to gain acceptance from others. She loved everyone but herself. She believed all good things were meant for others, not her. She pretended to be someone else just to be loved and accepted.
ANGEL'S SALVATION STORY.
In 2008, Angel traveled to the United States of America Miraculously. When Angel miraculously found herself in America, she was battling anxiety and depression. Life became harder as she tried to survive on her own as a teenager, leading to suicidal thoughts. She was so depressed and became so frail that she was certain she would die.
The only voices Angel remembered were those that belittled her, told her she was worthless, and doomed, and encouraged her to wallow in self-pity. She forgot all about her encounters with God and how He had protected her as a child.
But in His mercy, God visited Angel again. In a dream, He told her, "Not all who call me Lord, Lord will enter my kingdom but those who do the will of my father". After this, He asked Angel to kneel for a sister to pray for her, and after the sister prayed for her, she repented.
Then Angel had another encounter where He gave her another note, this time saying "I am with you always". At this point, Angel realized that He was calling her to salvation.
These experiences nearly led her to abandon hope. However, she found solace and strength in her faith in Jesus, which allowed her to unlock her potential that might have otherwise remained hidden in a soul that felt rejected, lost, and trapped. This transformation filled her with joy and inspired her to share her testimony with the world, guiding others toward Jesus through her singing, writing, and charitable work.Dr. Mbome is a mental health specialist who is deeply committed to helping individuals who have endured any form of traumatic experience. She encourages them to rise above their circumstances and fulfill their purpose.
